I always luxuriate in reading a well-written mystery, and it is even better when it is cozy, clean, and Christian. This book meets the criteria–no profanity, no sex, and definitely Christian (even though the message is much more subdued than I would like it to be). This is a departure from this author’s normal genre, and I honestly had high hopes for this tale. The first third of the book was fairly intriguing. The characters were mostly engaging, and the romance was sweet. I would have preferred a more direct Christian message, and it is more favorable to have an interwoven Christian message.In truth, I cannot give this book higher than a three and a half rating because, in short, it was a disappointment. The mystery was far too simple, and the author did not even tie up all the loose ends. And the romance was far too rushed and not too credible. My sincere expectation would be that the author returns to her comfort zone. I struggle to see that her future lies in this genre of books.I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Tess has taken some ribbing from her fellow officer, Logan,for her quilting hobby. He finds it hard to align the brisk professional officer he patrols with during the day with the one who quilts in her off-time.
