Faithful, Fit & Fabulous: Get Back to Basics and Transform Your Life – in just 8 Weeks by Connie E. Sokol
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Although this is not my favorite of Connie Sokol’s books, I have no qualms giving it a 5-star rating. Much of the information may not necessarily be for me and my position, but that does not negate the useful information contained within these pages. If a woman does determine to go through this logical program and series of steps, she will definitely be on the road to life transformation. Connie Sokol offers several of her own life experiences as illustrations throughout the book, and she always offers a bucket full of practical ideas and solutions. She keeps the program flexible enough that it attainable for all women. I was gratified to discover that one of her solutions is one that I began a couple of months ago–hormonal issues. I’ll let you read what she has to say about that for yourself, but it was nice to know I am not alone in discovering aid in that area.
I only have one minor complaint, and it is only due to theological differences. Connie Sokol is of the LDS persuasion, and I am not. She quotes from the Book of Mormon and the Bible equally, and while not offended at all, much of the Book of Mormon quotes did not impact me. Evidently Mormons believe that God permits us make out own decisions and does not truly direct our steps. As she described it (if I understood correctly), we get to decide what to do, and we ask God to bless it. She acknowledged that the Spirit does prompt us, but it seemed a little obscure compared to what I believe the Bible teaches. My understanding is that God guides our steps. While He won’t compel us to follow His will, we can know His will. I want Him in control of my life because I know my life would be in shambles if I were in charge. But that is how I believe, and everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
