On this date in 1947, one of the most infamous gangsters of all time died–Al Capone. He had been arrested in 1929, and he was sentenced to eleven years in prison. In the last eight years of his life, he lived in South Beach, Florida. He had syphilis, and he had the mental capacity of a 12-year-old (after having a brilliant criminal career–if you can call it that). He died of cardiac arrest.
