Deathbed & Breakfast (Pookotz Sisters Mysteries, #1)Deathbed & Breakfast by Bart J. Gilbertson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I think of an ideal mystery book, I expect for there to be minimal to no profanity, no intimate bedroom details, a clever mystery, and likable characters. I tend to think of the classics–Agatha Christie, Columbo, Perry Mason, Sherlock Holmes. Modern mysteries (even cozies) often miss the mark for me in some degree no matter how much I enjoy them. I can honestly say that Bart Gilbertson has come about as close to perfection as you can get in the writing of this magnificent book!

I honestly can’t think of a thing I would change in this book. Enough details were “dropped” to both confuse and help the reader in deciphering “who done it” (and just so you know, I did figure it out even though I second-guessed myself). This is reminiscent of the classics, but it has a distinct modern feel. This was a quick read, and I hope to be able to read more in this series. This series has moved to the top of my cozy mystery list!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
