I Didn't KnowI Didn’t Know by Yvette L Allen Tatum

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When it comes to sexual sin, the Christian community is often mute on that point. Add children to that mix, and you will not find much said. It is understood that pedophilia is a horrible act, but what about the victims? I have never experienced this horror, but the author of this book has. And she completely opens up. In so doing, it is clear that God has brought about healing, and her story is certainly helping others. She is bold in her descriptions, and she always refers the reader back to the Bible.

Until I read this book, I never considered several issues she raised. I never realized some of the feelings victims experience. I also had no idea that it was possible to completely block these kinds of memories from your brain for so many years. In fact, I was not cognizant of the fact that sexual abuse amongst children was such a prevalent problem. She debunked many myths, and she also tells the stories of a few other people who were abused. Her book has made me realize that I need to reiterate to my daughter this entire issue and how to prevent and report it if it does happen. I highly recommend this to anyone who would like more information about this troubling topic. And if you or anyone you know has experienced this horrendous act.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
