Indian treaties

I noticed there was some dispute regarding the actual day, but the best sources say today’s feature did happen today.  On this date in 1809, General William Henry Harrison negotiated the Treaty of Fort Wayne with the Native Americans.  Three million acres of Indiana territory land was given up by the Native Americans in exchange for money (as long as the tribes agreed).  This was the treaty that eventually led to the bloody war with Tecumseh, the Shawnee leader who strongly opposed the sale of lands to the whites.  He actually threatened to kill any chief that agreed to sell any land to the whites.  Whenever I read about Native American history, I am always ashamed at what the U.S. did to them, and I only wish that history could be rewritten.  It was so incredibly unjust!
