It’s been two years since Jill Barlow’s husband was murdered. Being attracted to someone new isn’t what she expected when, after her father’s recent murder, she fled to Vermont.
A terrifying series of break-ins shatter the peace she’d sought. Jill shields her adult children from knowing the gambling syndicate will kill again for the damming evidence she possesses.
With the lives of family and friends at stake, will Jill be required to make even more sacrifices?
Warning: This title is intended for readers over the age of 18 as it contains adult sexual situations and/or adult language, and may be considered offensive to some readers.
Excerpt:
Jill withdrew the box and raised the lid. Pulling out tissue revealed the contents. A flash drive.
“What in the world?” She removed the device.
Jill written in Dad’s distinctive script on a folded white piece of paper.
Her heart jammed against her throat. The stationary in her unsteady hands wavered like a leaf caught by a zephyr. She opened the sheet.
Dearest Jill, I hope I’m able to answer any questions you have. If I’m not around, arrogance got me killed. You need to get out of Texas.
You told me how much you loved Vermont when you visited after George’s death. Go there. With me out of the way, you, Ellen, and Ethan should be safe.
I sent the original information on Greg Richardson and the actions of the consortium against me to an FBI agent. You know how responsible I feel for George’s death.
This copy is for you. I didn’t want you to be shocked when the news about the arrests hit the papers.
However, if I’m dead, the bad guys won, kitten. Use your own good judgment. Destroy this or not. Your choice.
You and the kids are everything to me.
Love, Dad
Jill’s whole body quaked. Tears slid down her cheeks before they became a gushing waterfall. Sobs gagged her. She stumbled into the bathroom where she threw up. Finally, she stopped. Weeping, she collapsed on the cold tile floor.
The sobs changed to whimpers, and then became short hiccups. She tried to stop crying. To catch her breath. To stop hurting

Hey, Stephanie.I’m so glad you liked VE. I had the neatest experience in church yesterday when an older woman hugged me and said how much she liked the story and when was the next one coming out. She wanted to see more of the characters. Absolutely sent chill bumps!
Well, I told her and now I’ll tell you that I’ve sent the 5th book (You know this is my fourth in writing order, but first pubbed)to my publishers with fingers crossed they’ll like it too. If they like it, that book could be out in 6-9 months. The 6th book that I’m doing last edits on has a repeat character from VERMONT ESCAPE. The Fort Worth homicide detective nearly took over VE and I told him if he’d back off, he could have his own book. He did and he does. That’s Second Chances. Thanks so much for stopping by.-

Hey, Marsha, I now know I need to put this on my list to review. I am so behind on my reviews now that I couldn’t commit right now, but I must look into it! I know I enjoyed the excerpt–which is saying something, to be honest. All to often, I don’t enjoy the excerpts I publish for book tours.

Wendy, you were one of my earliest readers of my very first book, which had a good story and characters but woefully lacked any kind of craft.LOL You were quite kind. I hope you like VE. I believe you’ll see an improvement from the first pages you read. 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by.
