Raggedy Ann and Andy

I am a minimal collector of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.  I was intrigued to learn that on this date in 1917, the first Raggedy Ann doll went on sale.  I did try to verify this as much as I could, and it seems like most sites record this as fact.  Most don’t elaborate, however.  So don’t be shocked when I only give you a couple of sites as references.

The doll was based on Johnny Gruelle’s literary character.  There are a lot of legends as to where Raggedy Ann originated.  I love the rustic charm of Raggedy Ann, and every doll is a bit different.

I used to have a Raggedy Ann doll when I was young. How the times have changed, as at that time, we appreciated such simple toys and treasured them too.

I am a Raggedy Ann an Andy collector. I have at least 30 dolls. I have figurines too. A plague from 1980 and a circle plague with picture painted in and painting of dolls on shelves.
    Please enter me in contest.
