Let me say at the outset that I am not an Ernest Hemingway fan. I understand and appreciate the fact that he was a great author in spite of his troubled life, but I never found his writing style interesting. Often the stories were better than the writing style. But that is just my opinion. On this date in 1934, he wrote the following quote in a letter to F. Scott Fitzgerald (the author of The Great Gatsby) That is what we are supposed to do when we are at our best — make it all up — but make it up so truly that later it will happen that way.
Kind of an intriguing quote from an author. I guess it could go back to our dreams and trying to make them come true. I will say that Hemingway was certainly a “national treasure,” and his untimely suicide was quite a blow to this country.
