Summary (from the author’s site): Emily Covington has turned her life around after a drug addiction, but her family still has trouble trusting her. Though Emily has committed herself to a year-long treatment program and has been sober for almost a year beyond that, even her mother walks on egg shells around her, fearing she’ll relapse. After her behavior during her drug years, Emily realizes she has a lot to prove.

When police discover a home-made bomb under Emily’s car, and she then learns the wife of one of her friends was murdered that same morning, she knows things are deadly serious.
But who wants Emily dead? And why?
A conversation she had with two men, an Alfred Hitchcock movie, and a plan for a double-murder all conspire for one explosive ride … and Emily is the only one who can identify the killer and save the life of the next potential victim.
As she frantically works to solve this ever more complicated puzzle, Emily finds herself playing right into the killer’s hands.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I am always amazed by Christian authors who can write such unbelievable, action-packed mystery books that really draw the reader in and keep him/her on the edge of his/her seat.  And Terri Blackstock is indeed one of those authors.  Once I seriously began reading, I almost could not put it down.
Drugs and alcohol have affected our family to a degree, but I am basically unfamiliar with this world.  The author herself writes from her own experience, and it makes all the difference.  I can sense her heart, and she truly gives you a glimpse into this horrific world while telling a nail-biting murder mystery and even peppering it with a love story that will bring tears to your eyes.
Terri Blackstock is one of the most readable Christian authors out there, in my most humble opinion.  Every word and every detail serves a purpose.  There was not a character that came across as two-dimensional.  There is no doubt that each of these characters seemed to be truly living and breathing.
The Christian message of the book touched my heart so deeply.  Even in the midst of pain and suffering that makes no sense, God is there.  We may never understand why He has chosen to allow it, but we must not lose our faith or assume that He does not care.
I would recommend this dynamic book to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction and even to those who have walked the drug addict lifestyle or who had a loved one who did (or who is currently).  You will not regret this book, and it may go on to provide you with that needed hope.
I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated in any way, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Terri BlackstockTerri Blackstock is a New York Times and USA Today best-seller, with over seven million books sold worldwide. She is the winner of two Carol Awards, a Christian Retailers Choice Award, and a Romantic Times Book Reviews Career Achievement Award, among others. She has had over thirty years of success as a novelist. Terri spent the first twelve years of her life traveling in an Air Force family. She lived in nine states and attended the first four years of school in The Netherlands. Because she was a perpetual “new kid,” her imagination became her closest friend. That, she believes, was the biggest factor in her becoming a novelist. She sold her first novel at the age of twenty-five, and has had a successful career ever since.

In 1994 Terri was writing romance novels under two pseudonyms for publishers such as HarperCollins, Harlequin, Dell and Silhouette, when a spiritual awakening prompted her to switch gears. At the time, she was reading more suspense than romance, and felt drawn to write thrillers about ordinary people in grave danger. Her newly awakened faith wove its way into the tapestry of her suspense novels, offering hope instead of despair. Her goal is to entertain with page-turning plots while challenging her readers. She hopes to remind them that they’re not alone, and that their trials have a purpose.

Terri has appeared on national television programs such as “The 700 Club” and “Home Life,” and has been a guest on numerous radio programs across the country. The story of her personal journey appears in books such as Touched By the Savior by Mike Yorkey, True Stories of Answered Prayer by Mike Nappa, Faces of Faith by John Hanna, and I Saw Him In Your Eyes by Ace Collins.
