About the Author
Heidi secretly dreamed of writing a book for most of her childhood, but a particularly painful rejection letter in middle school convinced her to tuck that dream away. Instead, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington and a Master’s Degree in Athletic Training from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. After a brief career as a Certified Athletic Trainer, Heidi married her husband Steve, then she dusted off her big dream of becoming a published author and launched her first contemporary romance into the world in 2014. A huge fan of coffee, dark chocolate, and happily ever after, Heidi currently lives in North Carolina with Steve, three active boys and one amazing Goldendoodle.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
First of all, this is a sweet romance novel that I would consider faith-based. The Christian faith is woven into the framework of the entire story, and I couldn’t be happier for that. There is not ANYTHING that is inappropriate, so read this and enjoy.
Secondly, this takes place in Washington State! That’s my home state and where I currently live. Mentioning a kite festival?? I grew up attending the kite festival at Long Beach, Washington, so this just brought everything back. I’m glad the author loves Washington as much as I do, and I applaud her choice of setting.
As for the story, this is a typical “Hallmark movie” romance (I think Hallmark could adapt this to a movie in a virtual heartbeat!), but that didn’t reduce my enjoyment of it. The characters were cleverly and realistically developed., and while there were no major surprises in the story, it was well-executed on every level. If you love old-time romance with food trucks, bakeries, and country music, this is for you!
