In my tireless quest to feature positive young people in the film and TV industry, it is always a joy to connect with one who has continued to pursue his career path with integrity and enthusiasm, and Peter Bundic happens to be one of those special individuals. Recently, he and I conducted a follow-up interview in celebration of his current works that can be streamed on Netflix: Chilling Tales of Sabrina and The Hollow.
RH: Recently, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season one dropped on Netflix. Please describe your character and filming experience on this show.
PB: In Chilling Adventures of Sabrina created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Creator of Riverdale), I play Carl Tapper. Carl is a football player who likes to cause trouble and bully in Baxter High. Being Billy’s best friend, there could be more to the relationship as Aunt Hilda points out my lust for him.
My experience filming on this show has been an incredible journey. Every member of the cast and crew is very supportive of each other and one big family. The directors, writers, and producers are amazing and make things very enjoyable. We are not only having fun performing the scenes episode to episode, but making new memories with each other.
Do you have any hopes for your character in season two?
It is always very intriguing to me when the mortal world collides with the world of witches. It would be a lot of fun to see Carl discover new things. I am very excited for season two, and I absolutely loved season one.
Please tell us about your involvement with The Hollow.
I play real live action Adam, one of the leads in The Hollow. I got to film this with my friend,
Harrison Houde, playing Kai which was a great deal of fun involving push-up competitions and fun crafty combinations. Being a part of this Netflix Animation episodic, seeing the characters on screen and then allowing them to come to life was a really cool thing to see.
As one who has grown up in this era of streaming services as opposed to traditional network programming, how do you believe these streaming services have changed the industry?
Being able to watch your favorite shows and movies on your tablet, phone or laptop make it simply accessible and easy to watch wherever you are. I like that I can watch Netflix in my bed, on the couch and in my backyard!
Any other upcoming works you can mention?
Recently I’ve played a supporting character in the Netflix Feature Film Spontaneous written and directed by Brian Duffield. Brian is incredible and I was very excited to work with him. The release date hasn’t been set yet, but I have already had the honor to work with Katherine Langford, Charlie Plummer, and Hayley Law on this project. I am looking forward to the release of this.
What is one type of story/genre that you would like to see more represented in the film/TV community?
I am happy to see a wide array of perspectives in the stories that are being told in many new television shows and films. Everybody has their own individual perspective and with a larger diversity, more people can relate to these stories.
What do you think is one of the biggest challenges facing young people in general? What do you think should be done to help solve this issue?
One of the challenges I have faced and seen many around me face is being told you can’t follow your dreams and they are too big. Being told this by adults can make your dreams seem less possible. I urge the youth to believe in themselves, and if something makes you happy or you’re passionate about it keep working hard at it. The stars are in your reach.
What are your favorite activities to pursue during the winter?
Winter is one of my favorite times of the year. Although Vancouver winters don’t have much sun, it’s the perfect time to check out all the snow on the mountains, go ice skating, and drink a cup of hot chocolate by the fireplace. And “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” never gets old.
As we reach the end of 2018, it’s always a joy to highlight gifted young people like Peter, and I am ecstatic to see him involved in so many successful shows at present. However, in the midst of all this, he still finds time to devote his resources to family and his pursuits outside of the business. In so doing, he is ensuring that he enjoys a well-rounded existence in this world and spreads joy, peace, and understanding through the medium of film and television. While he has fully embraced the tools of this digital age, he nevertheless makes authentic connections with his loved ones and finds time to inspire those in his circle of influence in whatever concrete way he can. I hope that everyone will take a moment to visit all of Peter’s links below and consider following him where applicable. Furthermore, if you are unfamiliar with his works, I would invite you to look up any of his past/current works and support whatever ones strike your fancy. I am grateful to Peter and his family for being so willing to share Peter’s unique perspective and journey, and I look forward to more from this young man in the months and years to come.
