Ever since becoming the Hallmark fan that I am, there are specific actors and actresses that tend to distinguish themselves for various reasons. From the first time I saw Rachel Boston in a Hallmark movie (must have been Ring By Spring), I sensed an incomparable, refreshing, delightful aura about her that drew me in like no other actress had before. She continued to impress me in A Gift of Miracles and Ice Sculpture Christmas. However, once she appeared in Stop the Wedding, she instantly soared to become one of my most preferred Hallmark actresses. I knew if her name was attached to a movie, it was destined to be something miraculous and stimulating, not to mention charming and entertaining. The unadulterated talent that Rachel consistently brings to her projects is about to once again be exhibited tonight (November 26th) on the Hallmark Channel and December 20th on Super Channel Heart & Home in her brand-new Christmas offering, Check Inn to Christmas. In anticipation of this latest film, I am honored to bring you Rachel’s and my most recent chat.
RH: The last time Hallmark viewers saw you was this summer in The Last Bridesmaid. I know we talked about it last time, but what was your favorite scene to film in that movie? What was the feedback from the viewers?
RB: We had so much fun making that movie! There’s a scene where I tell Paul Campbell‘s character that I will never apologize for what I see in him and that really hit me hard. She has a gift. She sees the good in people. The potential of what they can achieve.
We also filmed the big speech about love on my birthday, and that night was magical. After my coverage was complete, the director and crew brought out a cake and everyone started singing. Since it was a wedding scene, there was an orchestra and they started playing. And then we ate birthday cake on the way back to the hotel. It was such an amazing night.
I believe this may be the first time you worked with Wes Brown. What did you appreciate about working with him on this film? Any special behind-the-scenes moments to share?
Yes! This is my first time working with Wes Brown. We met at the TCA’s – which is a big press event for television and were so excited to work together. He had the first few days of filming off, so when he got to set, we all tried to get him in the Christmas spirit. There’s a video somewhere of me dancing around him to Christmas music and he’s just standing there laughing.
Any other upcoming works you can mention?
Working on a super-secret sequel that I’m excited about.
You’ve made a total of nine Hallmark movies at this point. None of these have earned sequels as of yet. If you were to pitch a sequel to Hallmark of one of your films, which one would you choose and why?
Ooo!!! That’s what we’re working on now!!! Hopefully, we will have happy news for you very soon 🙂
You have been in the role of actress and executive producer. Do you have aspirations to do more producing? How about writing and/or directing?
Yes! I have a new romantic comedy I’m developing with a friend right now, and I’m shadowing directors. It’s such an amazing time for women in film. I’m very excited to be working both in front of and behind the camera.
Hallmark has begun to do a lot more “location” movies that film all over the world. If you could choose to film anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?
Yes! I want to be in all of those. I love traveling. Italy, Africa, Ireland. Maybe they could just put me on a plane and we can travel around making travel movies. I’m up for all of it 🙂
If you could spend Christmas anywhere, where would you spend it and who would you take with you?
I love spending time with my family so it’s always wonderful when we can be together. I would also put us on a plane and we could just travel all over the world. Maybe Iceland? That sounds magical. Cold yet magical.
What is a hidden talent that most people don’t know you have?
I love musical theater. I know so many random songs from obscure musicals that I adore. And I play the glockenspiel. I haven’t been playing it as much lately. It’s definitely time to bring out the glockenspiel again.
What is the current cause that you feel strongly about? Why?
I have received many letters from women recovering from abuse and their courage to speak up and speak out and the courage to heal trauma inspires me. The Joyful Heart Foundation is an amazing organization working towards a world free of domestic violence and child abuse. If you are going through this, you are not alone and there are a lot of amazing people ready to help. There’s hope. Always hope. www.joyfulheartfoundation.org
Being quite forthright, I cannot have enough of this woman in my life. Not only does she give a flawless performance no matter the role, the film, or the network, but she absolutely emits the most brilliant inner light to all who come in contact with her. She is authentic, restorative, engaging, charitable, and, of course, beautiful beyond words! Every time I come in contact with her essence, whether on social media or through a personal appearance or one of her many films, I cannot help but walk away with a smile inspired by none other than she and the joy that she brings to this world. Her values, her convictions, her conversation, her fashion sense…honestly, everything about Rachel enhances each studio who chooses to join with her, and I believe Hallmark has found a pristine diamond on which to build an empire of integrity, decency, benevolence, and love. It is as if she was born to be a Hallmark “movie star,” and the fact that I am able to cross paths with her and promote her incredible works is a reward and honor I do not take lightly.
Please make plans to tune in tonight (November 26th) for the premiere of Check Inn to Christmas on the Hallmark Channel (or December 20th on Super Channel Heart & Home) which has the makings of being yet another triumph for this lovely young woman whose humble nature always places the needs and desires of others before her own. And while you are savoring all of her marvelous works, be sure to visit her links below and even consider helping the charity nearest and dearest to her heart, Joyful Heart Foundation, in whatever way you are able. While I have never met this woman in person, Rachel is one whose inner light extends far beyond her physical being. Because of her devotion to her faith, her family, her friends, and her passion, she is able to affect and illuminate those whom she may never meet in this lifetime and influence them for all of eternity, and that is the sign of one extraordinary individual. I am so grateful to God, to Hallmark, and to Rachel herself for granting me (and the rest of her fans) the opportunity to know her and support her in all of her many endeavors, and here’s hoping for many, many, many more in the future!
