Blogging Challenge (Catch-Up) January 24: Energizing With Protein

Protein is vital to a healthy diet, and as a semi-vegetarian, getting a healthy amount of protein might seem difficult at first. After all, I’m not eating meat (unless it’s fish or special-occasion meats). I’m eating minimal dairy, but to be quite honest, I’ve never felt better. I used to believe I was almost hypoglycemic, but I have since altered my diet, and with what I eat now, I don’t seem to have that problem.

My favorite proteins now are as follows:

  • Eggs
  • Vegetarian meat substitutes
  • Kodiak Cakes and Mighty Muffin breakfasts
  • Nuts

What is my favorite protein? That’s easy! Any kind of nut butter! But I prefer the healthy kinds without all the added sugar. Give me jars of butter made from almonds, sunflowers, cashews, and even peanuts.

My next favorite has to be eggs! Of course, I love any kind of egg. They don’t seem to cause me any kind of problem.

More recently, I discovered Kodiak Cakes Mighty Muffin brands. While I don’t recommend the oatmeal from Kodiak Cakes, the Flapjacks!! Yes, and Mighty Muffin runs them a close second if you’re looking for similar protein with fewer calories.
