About the Book
Book: The Vacant House
Author: Tamara G. Cooper
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: June 3, 2019
She knows she didn’t do it, but everybody thinks she did.
It all begins when best-selling author Sophie O’Brion is the last person to see a murder victim alive. She looks even more guilty when a woman from her church is beaten, and Sophie was seen with her just hours before. Suddenly, people she has known her entire life begin pointing accusing fingers at her.
Marine Master Sergeant Burke Maguire, an old flame who dumped Sophie years ago, has recently been hired as a police officer in Forman Falls, Texas, and is assigned her case. She doesn’t want his help.
As she gets deeper and deeper into trouble, though, she must rely on him, but trusting him is another matter.
Will they be able to work together, maneuver dangerous twists and turns, and finally clear her name?
A clean romantic suspense novel that grips you from the very beginning and won’t let you go! The Vacant House is an unforgettable adventure. Read it today, if you have plans to stay up all night.

About the Author
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated and all opinions are 100% mine.
First of all, this is a cozy mystery. There is nothing inappropriate in the book as far as language and situations. There is some non-gratuitous violence as well as some situations that are referenced. Church is mentioned, but I don’t see anything overtly Christian in this book.
I wanted to like this book. I saw many mystery elements that were included, and some were executed well. However, there were way too many plotlines and disconnected action, in my opinion. I felt like a confused observer on the outside of the story in spite of the well-executed first-person narrative.
I did like Yoda the cat. I just wish Sophie had been a bit more likable and relatable. I saw many red herrings, but unfortunately, I didn’t care that much about who ultimately did it.
While I’m sure the author has the talent for spinning a good tale, I hope in future novels that she describes the characters in such a way that I am able to connect with them on a more authentic level. I really wanted to like Sophie, but I struggled to enjoy her antics. I longed to know her more.
