Have you ever heard of Genazzano, a little place 90 minutes outside of Rome, Italy? It was the site of a famous sighting in church history. On this date in 1457, the village gathered as usual at church to celebrate the day of St. Mark. Suddenly, heavenly notes were heard, and a dark cloud descended over a wall of the church. When the cloud lifted, there was a portrait of Our Lady and the Christ Child. There is a piece of artwork that commemorates this amazing experience that you can see to this date. I have to be honest–I put no credence in this vision. I don’t put any credence of any sightings that we hear about today. But that is my opinion. This is still a date that is celebrated with the Feast of Our Lady of Good Counsel today.
