If you’re like most parents, one of your deepest desires is to help your child optimize her or his cognitive capabilities. Luckily, there are several tips and tricks that parents like you can deploy to help your child perform well in school. Here are three:

1. Hire A Tutor.

Almost every child can benefit from private tutoring services. These services are valuable because they ensure that there are no holes or gaps in your child’s knowledge as she or he advances from one grade to another. In many cases, large class sizes preclude teachers from offering the individual instruction necessary to ensure that a child really masters the material. Yet by hiring a tutor, you afford your child the opportunity to obtain the one-on-one attention necessary to really jumpstart academic growth and excellence.

2. Get Involved With Parent/Teacher Organizations.

Another strategy you can implement to enhance your child’s education is to get involved with a parent/teacher organization. These organizations enable you to get a first-hand look at the types of educational programs, extracurricular activities, and coursework that your child is being exposed to. Additionally, parent/teacher organizations help you form strong, interactive relationships with the instructors who are teaching your child. Third, parent/teacher organizations help you attain a voice or “say” in educational decisions that are made at your child’s school. All of these factors enable you to play a primary role in your child’s educational development and thereby contribute to her or his academic achievement.

3. Consider Boarding School.

One final strategy you should consider when attempting to advance your child’s education is a boarding school. In some cases, young people begin exhibiting behavioral problems that warrant correction. Oftentimes, parents choose to send their child to a therapeutic boarding school so she or he can learn positive thinking and behavioral skills that will facilitate personal and professional success. When you think about which boarding school to send your child to, consider a facility such as Wood Creek Academy. This academy develops academic programs that are tailored to suit each individual’s unique needs. Additionally, the school is accredited and offers courses that are transferable to all high schools.

Conclusion

If you’re interested in optimizing your child’s education, you should know that there are numerous ways to make it happen. By hiring a tutor, getting involved with a parent/teacher organization, and considering boarding school, you can get your child on the road to academic excellence and exceptionalism!

Wonderful blog… I think hiring a private tutor is the best option for working parents like me, who do not get enough time to assist the kids in their studies. I have recently hired one for my kids and I must say their grades have improved drastically… Thanks for the blog.

Things have changed so much since I was in school. I can remember my mom quizzing me on my spelling words, having my dad run ditto copies of addition/subtraction/multiplication/division time tests and having me do them daily, checking over my homework when I was done, and being very involved in the school PTA. In fact, I would guess that when I was in grade school, PTA meetings drew at least one parent from each family – sometimes both mother and father. Of course, moms were all stay-at-home and we didn’t have internet, etc. I tried to do the same with my own daughters – when I had to help with family income, I would work around the hours my girls were home and awake. It’s a real shame that so many families just can’t afford to be there for their kids like they used to be.

I think the advice of intervention is good. If done with people the teen trusts, especially close friends, the results may be positive.
