Rally of a Purple HeartRally of a Purple Heart by Brittany Batong

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

All too often, I am unable to truly luxuriate in a romance book due to profanity, bedroom scenes, and other peripheral issues. I am gratified to be able to recommend a fantastic romance book that is essentially free from these issues. I believe there is some mild profanity, but I will admit that none of it jumped off the page at me. There are no bedroom scenes, although infidelity occurs and is discussed within the realms of the book.

For me, this book has the distinction of being a heartfelt story chock full of romance, history, self-discovery, and realism. The characters had me mesmerized, and I connected with them in a profound way. Our flawed heroine learned so much about herself in spite of her mistakes, and I cannot say I was always certain what the conclusion of the tale would be. Towards the end of the novel, I was cheering for the heroine, and I believe I connected with her when she stood up for herself. This is a sweet romance that has a little something for everyone. Perseverance was key as I found myself getting interrupted regularly, but it was not the author’s fault that I took so long to finish the book. Without interruptions, I could have easily read it in an afternoon. The rich history and complexity of the novel pulled on my heartstrings several times along the way!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
