Christian Romance
Paperback, 384 pages

Allie Kirkland has never been one to take wild risks. But when she’s offered a costuming assistant’s job on a docudrama in the hills near Moses Lake, she jumps at the chance. She’s always dreamed of following in her director-father’s footsteps, and the reenactment of the legendary frontier settlement of Wildwood is a first step. The family expectations will have to wait.
But in 1861, the real Wildwood held dangerous realities. Town founder Harland Delevan held helpless residents, including young Irish schoolteacher Bonnie Rose, in an iron grip. Mysterious disappearances led to myths and legends still retold in the folk songs of Chinquapin Peaks. Eventually, the entire site was found abandoned.

You might grow weary of my saying this, but I can honestly say that this book is unlike any other book I have ever read. Permit me to say first of all that this book is definitely clean. There is nor profanity nor bedroom scenes. Furthermore, it is what I would call semi-Christian. What I mean by that the gospel message is not necessarily there, but the characters do pray and talk to God. In fact, I would venture to say that Allie has some kind of salvation experience. There is nothing inappropriate in the book, and I believe everyone would enjoy the book–whether young or old.To be perfectly honest, the most stimulating portion of this novel is the historical mystery aspect and how it ties in with the modern day elements. Not every question is answered one hundred percent, but I was grateful that the author wrote a concluding epilogue that practically tied up the loose ends. This is the first mystery in a while that actually took me by surprise. I did not have this one figured out-at least in the modern-day mystery went. I had a portion of the historical mystery deciphered. If you are a fan of romance, historical fiction, and/or cozy mysteries, this story is for you. The author has created a completely scintillating story written in exquisite style. Her style of writing is phenomenal, and I never once found myself getting bored.I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
