Senior Pets Need Love Too by Cari Lynn Webb
In my new release, Ava’s Prize-a sweet contemporary romance from Harlequin Heartwarming-my heroine, Ava Andrews fosters senior cats and dogs thanks to her good friend, Sophie Callahan. Sophie owns The Pampered Pooch, a pet store in the city and takes in rescues quite often. (The Charm Offensive, Book 1, City by the Bay Stories). Ava fosters the senior pets as often as she can, preferring to spread her love around to the older animals until Sophie finds the dogs and cats their forever homes.
Here are Ava’s top reasons to adopt a senior pet the next time you want to add a four-legged family member to your household:
- Senior cats and dogs are fully grown and their personality in place. They have grown into who they are going to be and there’ll be no surprises. And they are usually calmer than the more rambunctious kittens and puppies.
- Senior pets make great napping partners and companions. And waking up for puppy potty breaks in the middle of the night won’t happen with a senior dog. Everyone can enjoy the same sleep schedule.
- Senior dogs and cats have learned their puppy and kitty lessons and developed manners. Senior cats know how to find their litter boxes and senior dogs know potty time happens outside.
- Senior cats and dogs have more love to give.
- Senior cats and dogs need you. Adopting a senior pet saves a life.
Our house consists of two senior cats that prefer to lounge in the sun streaming in the window rather than play. And a seven-year old dog that loves car rides, long walks and hasn’t quite outgrown her inner puppy – she grabs one of her toys to play whenever someone walks into the house because everyone wants to play, right?
Do you have pets? Would you consider adopting a senior pet?
