A little while ago, I participated in a book tour where I helped promote the book Blucy: The Blue Cat by Julia Dweck, and the author was nice enough to gift me a copy for review. I finally took a moment, and I read this book. I am now delighted to share my review with you.
Synopsis (from goodreads):
Once in a blue moon, a special pet comes along.
When Mandy adopts the best cat at the shelter, she doesn’t realize it has a big secret and an even bigger personality.
Blucy: The Blue Cat by Julia Dweck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book review should surprise no one that knows me. I love cats. Granted, I did not always. I always thought dogs were the best, but my daughter introduced me to the true joys of cats, and we now have thirteen! Okay, so this book was about a cat that I would love to have. Blue happens to be my favorite color, and this story was exquisitely written and illustrated! I could see our mischievous cats in Blucy, and my daughter is much like Lucy. I can’t say whether I enjoyed the story or the facts at the end better (there truly were some amazing cat facts in the back of the book). One word of caution–this book will not show up on a traditional kindle. I had to read it on the computer, but it was easy enough to read. I think I would have preferred a physical copy, but that is my opinion. The rhyming structure of the story was absolutely flawless and far above average. I highly recommend this book to children and cat lovers worldwide!
Note: I only have just learned that all children’s picture books cannot be read on a black-and-white device, so this is not something unusual. It is just the first time I have ever seen this happen. I have learned something!
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
