Thomas Jefferson

On this date in 1788, Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter to Alexander Donald that featured what would become a famous quote by him.

“Whenever the people are well informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to rights.”

Personally, I believe it is the responsibility of the people to be well-informed in the government, and I agree with his statement.  Selective reporting should not be an option, and the media should present everything pertinent to our government  in a fair and balanced manner.
