Chasing the StormNorwegian author Martin Molsted’s debut novel, Chasing the Storm, has just been published and if you fancy thrillers with colorful characters, exotic locations, a dash of mystery, a tad of romance and a lot of thrilling high-octane action then this might be worth checking out.

Based on a true story…

In 2009 the ship MV Arctic Sea was hijacked in the Baltic Sea. Following intense media scrutiny, Russian commandos seized the ship a month later. Though Russia still claims that the ship carried timber destined for Algeria, many observers assume that the actual cargo was military-related, and that the mission was thwarted by Israeli forces.

… But what did really happen?

Chasing the Storm3DMartin became so fascinated with the story that he started investigating the case on his own and eventually became acquainted with a Russian journalist who had written about his suspicions regarding the missing ship, and was forced to flee Moscow as a result. The result of Martin’s brief conversations with him, and a lot of additional research, became Chasing the Storm, a thriller about the hijacking of a Russian ship in the Baltic, and the search by a Russian journalist and a Norwegian oilman for the truth.

Martin Molsted picked up real-life events and crafted them into an action-packed, relentless story.

The events have apparently been fictionalized but may be closer to what really happened in the Baltic than any speculative journalism. With its timely subject matter and intricate storyline, Chasing The Storm is reminiscent of recent Scandinavian Crime Fiction from authors such as Stieg Larsson, Jo Nesbo and Henning Mankell and other popular conspiracy-thriller authors.

This sounds pretty interesting. I’m a little bit of a conspiracy theorist, so anything involving cover stories and mysteries peak my attention.
