Queen Latifah and Dennis Quaid star in this beloved tale based on the New York Times best-selling book by Kate DiCamillo. When 12-year-old Rob Horton (Christian Convery) discovers a caged tiger in the woods near his home, his imagination runs wild and life begins to change in the most unexpected ways. With the help of a wise and mysterious maid, Willie May (Queen Latifah) and the stubborn new girl in school (Madalen Mills), he navigates through childhood memories, heartache, and wondrous adventures in this heartwarming adaptation.
First of all, this cast…this story…I don’t even know where to begin! This is an inspirational movie for the whole family to enjoy together, and I am thrilled to see such wonderful talent attached to it. I mean, who doesn’t love Queen Latifah and Dennis Quaid? So often, Hollywood is inundated with dark stories–even ones that involve children–but thankfully this one is an exception.
This movie is very special to me. I can’t always say I personally know one of the stars, but I do. I had the honor of meeting Christian Convery back when he was young. I was in Vancouver, and I attended an awards show when I was working for a publicist. I even interviewed the youngster! He and his mom were so fabulous. I knew good things were in store for this young man, and look at him now!
Oh, there’s a tiger too. And it’s based on a book. Do I need to go on? This movie is bound to be a royal treat for the entire family!!
