Blogging Challenge Day #18: “When do you open gifts?”

In our family, we always have opened our Christmas presents on Christmas morning. As a child, I never liked waiting until my parents were up (or my lazy brother!), but we always survived. Before we opened our gifts, my dad would read the Christmas story from the Bible (I didn’t always appreciate that either!).

We typically had some kind of sweet rolls to tide us over until breakfast. And then we had Eggs Benedict, a tradition we don’t follow anymore.

To make things a bit easier, we would always open one gift on Christmas Eve night. We kids didn’t like waiting, so my mom would make sure we opened clothes or something equally boring.

We also had stockings (we still do) that we would do before the Christmas tree presents. I love stocking stuffers to this day!

All of my eight children had stockings like oversized pillow cases and they had to wait till Christmas morning. Well they were very clever first we used to be woken at 4.30 am in the morning and as they got older they struggled to sleep even as teenagers they still struggle to sleep. Lol they got very clever and woke up early and were very quiet and they couldn’t wait. Than we woke up at 6am and the excitement on ttere faces how could you say why didn’t you wait. The excitement is still magical- l feel so blessed to have an amazing husband and beautiful children. Than Boxing Day we visit my husbands family lol Christmas paper is every were Christmas morning it’s so much fun 🎄 special memories
