Positive young people–sometimes an oxymoron and almost impossible to find, but it does not prevent me from searching arduously. And in the case of Kacey Fifield, in a sense, she found me. I happened upon her one day, and she was gracious enough to discuss how and why she became an actress, her passion for music, and most significantly, her optimistic outlook.

RH: Kacy, it’s so great to finally get to chat with you. Now how old are you again?

KF: I’m eleven.

Kacey, why did you decide to become an actress?

img_20150823_122141-2.jpg.jpgWhen I was younger, I always loved performing for my family. I would put on little shows and sing and act and keep going. And I loved doing different characters like the nice one, the mean one, the cool one, the tough one. I’ve always loved entertaining. I feel like it’s just really amazing to become different people and experience different things and inspire people. And make people laugh.

wp-1473141593482.pngWell, you definitely have the personality for it. You get on stage or in front of a camera, and you just light up everything around you.

Thank you.

You’re welcome. So have you had any training in acting or taken any classes?

Yeah, I take a lot of classes. I take some drama. I take some comedy. I take some scene study.

When was your first professional job?

My first professional job was about three years ago. It was a short film I was in, and it was a lot of fun.

yaa-spotlight.jpg.jpgSo what kind of work do you mostly do?

I do commercials. I do short films. I do feature films. I do TV shows. I do web series.

Oh, wow, so you do it all.

Yeah, I’ve been in the Dodge Journey commercial that’s been airing in Canada and Mexico. Then I have a Petco commercial that’s been airing in the U.S. And I also have an On-Cor commercial that’s been airing in the U.S.

Now, when I was reading about  you, I read that you were very passionate about animal rights. Is that right?

img_20160116_153603.jpgYes, I ‘ve rescued two cats from animal shelters, and I volunteer at a dog shelter. I really do all I can to help all these animals ’cause all animals deserve to be loved and have a good life. I’m also a vegetarian ’cause I feel bad for the way farm animals are treated. I became a vegetarian about a year ago after I visited a farm animal sanctuary. All animals have souls and hearts. They’re sweet and kind, and they’re really smart, so I just can’t eat them.

Wow, that’s really something. To be at your age and already making that decision.

img_20160522_132024.jpgYeah, I want to do everything I can to help the animals.

I’m not a vegetarian, but I greatly respect those who make that decision. Our family also has rescued cats from the wild and tamed them.

Our cats think they are the boss and they get on the counters and think they’re in charge. They go and dig up dirt in our plants, and they drink water from the sink ’cause they think they are the boss. They’re just so sweet and funny.

I understand what you mean. My cat is very vocal, and we carry on all sorts of conversations.

Our cats don’t meow often, but they try to be very tough hunters, but there are times they cry just like babies. They’re so weird.

I am so glad that you are passionate about animal rights even at your young age–great job! (pause) I noticed you are also a singer/songwriter?

wigu.jpgYes, I have some songs out on iTunes. I’ve got a few singles–California and Hear Me Out. I wrote both of those. I wrote the lyrics and helped with the music.

Are you planning to eventually release an album?

Yes, I will. I am working on new songs, and I plan to release an album sometime next year.

Is this something new, or is it something you’ve always wanted to do?

I’ve always loved singing. I’d be singing when I wake up and singing when I go to sleep. Last year, we had an amazing opportunity to work with a music producer and put my song out on iTunes.

So you have all these talents. You’re an actress, a singer–do you dance also?

Well, I’m not a professional dancer, but I like freestyling, and I think I’m good at making stuff up. I don’t really like following routines. Even though in my music video, there was a dance routine, but that dance routine was really fun.

Adsc01295-2.jpg.jpgt this point in your career, what do you think you are most known for?

I’m probably most known for The Game Shakers. I’m also a regular on the YouTube show Kids React. I was also a season regular on the show React To That on Nickelodeon.

Do you have any other upcoming works that you can mention?

Well, I have my YouTube channel, Kacey Fifield Variety. I have my music videos there and a bunch of fun little videos that are really funny and cool. I actually film and edit most of my videos. I really love getting to do that.  When I edit them, I love adding special effects to make it nice and interesting. My new video for Hear Me Out just debuted on VEVO, so please check it out there and below here.

Being a young person in the business, how do you keep yourself away from the negative influences that some young people get involved in?

untitled-63.jpeg.jpgI keep my regular school activities. I take swimming lessons, piano–I do a lot of regular kid things ’cause I am a kid, so I can’t just lose that part. I stay away from those negative things, and I just don’t dwell on that stuff ’cause it’s not important. And my mom helps me through that, too. My faith also helps me through that because I know Someone is always watching down on me with everything I do.

What would be your advice to young people who want to get involved in the entertainment business?

kr-dt.png.pngYou really have to love it because it takes a lot of effort and you can’t just be like, “Oh, I want to be an actor,” and then expect to go to an audition and get hired. You have to work towards it, do your best every time, and no matter how hard it is, stay true to yourself and believe in yourself. And always do your best no matter what. And everybody is unique. You can’t just do comedy if you don’t feel confident about it because then it’s gonna show in your work. You have to be yourself.

dsc01621.jpgI have a lot of things going on, and I do a lot of stuff. I’m a regular kid, as you know, but I also do a lot of acting and singing. And I do gymnastics. I take dance lessons and swimming lessons. Sometimes I take piano. It helps me be more well-rounded, and a lot of those activities help me with my career because then I could go out for a gymnast role. After all, I like gymnastics ’cause it’s really fun.

One good thing about being a kid is you don’t have to choose just one thing that you really want to focus on. I like doing lots of stuff. I just like performing and making people happy. One of the reasons I want to be an entertainer is because I want to have a voice to help people ’cause then people will listen to me and understand. As an entertainer, I have a bigger voice, and I can inspire people through my music, acting, and work and inspire people to do better things for the world.

With phenomenal young people like Kacey residing in this sometimes dark and foreboding world, I feel like I can breathe a sigh of relief and rest assured that our future is in safe and capable hands. Kacey is one who is not only a sweet and confident spitfire filled with an abundance of exuberance and joy, but she is one who has a burning desire to change the world for the better. My words cannot begin to capture the exhilaration and radiance that exude from her inmost being. The purity of her soul, the twinkle in her eyes, and the sincerity of her smile are only the outward signs of the beautiful soul that thrives within this lovely and magnificent young lady. I greatly anticipate what Kacey will do as she matures into a young woman of principle, purpose, and distinction. I applaud her high moral standards, convictions, and ideals, and I believe that her impressive journey has only begun. Be sure that you follow Kacey at all the links below, and don’t forget to check out her new video for her single Hear Me Out. It’s worth the listen and watch, I promise!
