phil-wickham-talked-about-his-children-of-god-albumPhil Wickham has a new CD out, CHILDREN OF GOD. The first since his surgery in 2014, to remove a vocal polyp. He has a new sound
and renewed energy in praising God for his complete healing from this life changing, down on his knee’s, surrender to God awakening!

My review:

Up until this CD, I had never heard of Phil Wickham. And typically, I’m not a huge fan of contemporary Christian music. Either it’s too rocky, the music has a shaky theological foundation, or I cannot understand the words. In the case of Phil, I’m hooked! From the beginning of the CD, I appreciated that the Doxology was sung and performed in a reverent way while still keeping it modern. Phil has a very nice voice–peaceful and musical. I like that sound. This is the perfect CD to play when you just want to relax and escape the business of this world and reconnect with God. The songs are simple but powerful. The music never becomes more contemporary than I can stomach, and I really appreciate the songs that are on the CD. I feel like in no time, I could be singing along with this CD. It certainly makes me want to look up this singer and his music. Some may prefer music with more of a beat, but it is clear that the purpose of this music is to praise and worship God in spirit and truth. I can understand the words, and it’s almost like being in a praise and worship service. There is no doubt that the music resonates with Phil, and I find the music incredibly authentic. My favorite song is the duet he sings with Madison Cunningham–“The Secret Place.” If you are looking for something to add to your praise and worship collection, I would recommend this CD.
