Sometimes upgrading or renovating your home can seem like it is going to cost an arm and a leg. If cash is tight, a major renovation project may not be in the cards, especially if you’re pretty happy with the way your house looks and feels on a daily basis.

However, if your home just seems to be lacking something small, you may want to take on a project that can be done quickly and efficiently. Use this guide to help you learn more about home upgrades that can be done on the cheap while still making your home look noticeably better.

Painting and Wallcovering

When you paint a room or put new wallcovering on the walls you make a dramatic improvement almost immediately. After all, the walls really are the biggest surface area of any room, and therefore they are one of the first things people notice when they go in a room.

What you choose is up to you and your own personal taste, but timeless choices like white and cream or striped or floral wallcovering are often ideal, especially if you don’t want to change them too frequently.

You’ll be able to live comfortably with those choices for years to come.

Add Accessories

Accessories like rugs, throw pillows and throw blankets can make such a huge difference in a room that many homeowners can’t believe that’s all they’ve changed when they’re done. Pick items that you love and will want in your home for the next five to 10 years.

My home is in need of so many updates. Oh and Allstate stinks. They canceled me after one month because I need repairs on my outer foundation (main foundation is still solid) and paint or side my house. 🙁

Sometimes starting with the front door by repainting or changing to a new color is a good start.

Good tips! I think neutral color walls are good. They go with any other colors you add, like furniture.

Since I used to install tile, I really appreciate the pointers you are giving us, because I always like to network and see how others would go about for new ideas. Thank you and keep up the great works.

Cool some very simple fixes to style up your home, cannot forget the one I find the most important and that is to paint the walls neutral colors, white, creams, beiges o light grays, then you can accessorize and restyle your room by adding curtains, pillows, art work in a different hue when the urge strikes is a lot easier than painting over and over and come up with some great combinations.
