Preparing for the arrival of a first baby is very exciting, and one of the most pleasant tasks for Mom is choosing beautiful baby outfits. Baby clothing that are of the highest quality and come with vibrant designs are perfect for first time moms who want the best for their young one. Childcare experts recommend that you make sure outfits are easy to put on and take off, with openings that make diaper changes simple. Fabrics should be soft and comfortable and the clothes should be constructed without any scratchy labels or seams.

Furthermore, it would be best to wash them first before wearing them to your young one. With regards to sizing, it can be difficult to know what size of baby clothing to buy. Larger babies may skip newborn sizes altogether and go straight into the 3- to 6-month size while others may begin in preemie size and remain in 0- to 3-month sizes for several months. The advice is to buy items in a range of sizes and return the things that are not needed.

Essential items you will need to buy for your baby

1. One-piece suits

Sleep-suit style one-pieces are very useful for newborns, as they can be worn by both night and day. You will probably need 7 one-piece suits; they can double up as pajamas as well. Of course, you can get cute sleepwear as well if you like.

2. Shirts and Leggings

Buy 5 – 7 of each; they are very useful as you can change one soiled item without needing to change the complete outfit.

3. Knit Jacket or Sweater

Keep baby cozy with a soft, knitted jacket. Check that it is machine-washable and can be tumble-dried.

4. Wearable blankets

These sleeping sacks of wool or cotton zip up over your baby’s sleepwear. They are safer than traditional blankets as they reduce the risk of SIDS.

5. Socks and Hats

Keep baby’s toes and head warm with soft, cozy knitted socks and hats.

Summing up

A little planning ensures that you do not end up with lots of outfits that are worn only a few times. Buy basic items from value ranges and spend the money you save on one or two beautiful outfits. Finally, buying baby clothes well in advance of the birth will give you more time to enjoy getting to know your new baby.

Soft knitted hats and socks sound like excellent choices. It’s great that you share that wearable blankets help prevents SIDS.

Very good and useful guide to buying baby clothes. It is so hard to resist the og so cute baby clothes that are available now. While buying a few nice and cute things is fine for church and doctors visits it isn’t a good idea to buy a lot because so often they are never worn for various reasons, probably the main reason is they outgrow them before they wear them.
