It was on this date in 1784 that one of our founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, wrote a letter to his daughter that explained his preference for the wild turkey instead of the bald eagle as our national bird.  While this may sound absurd to us today, things were a little different back then, and Franklin made some potentially valid points. You make the decision. Turkey or bald eagle? I would choose the bald eagle, but Franklin found the turkey a much more noble bird.

Isaiah 40:31 – But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.

I am reading a book about Benjamin Franklin. He was a man of varying views. I can see him requesting
the turkey which is interesting. Thank you.

Very interesting. Makes one wonder what we would’ve had for Thanksgiving as the main course? I too am glad its the eagle.
