Can the Holy Spirit Direct a Movie?

In this fast-paced documentary from the director of the popular films Finger of God, Furious Love, and Father of Lights, Darren Wilson sets out to make a movie that is completely led by the Holy Spirit. No plan, no script, no safety net — just go wherever he feels the Spirit leading him to try to discover the adventure God has for him. Whether it’s the riches of Monte Carlo, a heavy metal concert, or the oldest city in world, the result is a film that not only challenges and excites, but also reveals a God who is far more alive and active than you ever imagined.

The movie features big names such as Lenny Kravitz, Brain “Head” Welch, Bill Johnson, Michael W. Smith, Todd White, Meredith Andrews, DeVon Franklin, William P. Young, Phil Vischer, and many more!

I was privileged to be able to watch this DVD, and I have to say it is intriguing to say the least.  I would say that there is something that will appeal to everyone. All too often, we as Christians want to discount the work of the Holy Spirit.  We talk about God, the Father and God, the Son. But what about the Holy Spirit?  Does He still move within this world or ours, or did that end after the Bible was written?  Does He heal, save, and move as He so wills, or should we try to put Him in a box?  This movie will lead you to genuine answers about this and so much more.

I have been on both sides of the spectrum.  I grew up in a church that did not emphasize the work of the Holy Spirit. Then I moved to a church that did nothing but talk about the Holy Spirit. I believe that both extremes are wrong, and sometimes the movie goes to the second extreme, in my opinion. While I believe that this will inspire Christians to discover the world of the Holy Spirit, I believe that sometimes emotions, feelings, and experiences are elevated to an unrealistic level.  I do not doubt the authenticity of these experiences, but I do hope and pray that there will be a follow-up that will ensure the spiritual growth of these people shown in the DVD.
