Tea Cup TurbulenceSynopsis
Los Angeles animal shelter manager Lauren Vancouver has a soft spot for animals in need—and a keen eye for crime. . .

Thanks to a savvy ad campaign featuring teacup pups sporting HotPets Bling—a new line of faux jewelry dog collars—small dog adoptions have skyrocketed across the city. So when Lauren discovers a shelter in the Midwest with more toy dogs than it can handle, she arranges a private plane to swoop in and fly the pups back to LA.

But Lauren didn’t count on rescue worker Teresa Kantrim coming along for the ride. Teresa has cared for the dogs since they were found and doesn’t trust anyone from La-La Land to take over the job. Her biting comments clearly haven’t earned Teresa any new friends, but when she turns up murdered, it’s time for Lauren to dig into Teresa’s past and find out who wanted her put down.

A Guest Blogger Blogs About Blogging

(by the author)

Hi.  I’m Linda O. Johnston, author of a bunch of books and a big fan of blogging.

At the moment, I’m here at My Devotional Thoughts thanks to a really delightful book tour.  It was set up for me by Great Escape Book Tours to help me promote my latest Pet Rescue Mystery, TEACUP TURBULENCE, a January release from Berkley Prime Crime.  The tour started early in January and will continue for another week.  It involves guest interviews and blog posts as well as reviews of TEACUP TURBULENCE.  I’m really jazzed about it.

I’m also jazzed about blogging.  Why?  Not sure, except that it gives me an opportunity to talk about myself.  I don’t think I’m too much of an egotist, but it’s always fun to talk about things that are important to me.

Like dogs.  And pet rescue.  That’s a reason I’ve loved writing my Pet Rescue Mysteries.  I intend to entertain my readers while hopefully also letting them know about aspects of saving animals.

TEACUP TURBULENCE is number five in the series, and like the others there’s an animal rescue theme behind it.  In TEACUP TURBULENCE, it’s a salute to the wonderful pet rescuers who pick up homeless animals from areas where their sort isn’t being adopted particularly quickly, and moving them to locations where people will welcome them with open arms… and homes.  There are a number of real organizations that do this, both using private planes and cars.  My hats off to all of them.  Private planes are the vehicles of choice in TEACUP TURBULENCE.  And of course, since it’s a cozy mystery, there’s a murder involved that my protagonist Lauren Vancouver, chief administrator at the no-kill shelter HotRescues, has to solve.

Even when I’m not on a blog tour, I do a bunch of blogging.  I blog every Wednesday on KillerHobbies.blogspot.com.  I was invited there a long time ago by some wonderful cozy mystery writers whose series revolve around hobbies like different kinds of needlework and more.  My theme is pets, and I told them I’d be delighted to join–but pets are family, not hobbies.

I also blog on the 18th of each month at KillerCharacters.com.   Or, rather, my characters do.  They describe what’s going on in their latest adventures and what they think of them, and I post it for them and try not to edit too much.

And on the 6th of each month, I post at A Slice of Orange, the blog of the Orange County Chapter of Romance Writers of America.  I belong to RWA and a couple of its chapters because, in addition to mysteries, I also write romances, including my Alpha Force miniseries for Harlequin Nocturne about a covert military unit of shapeshifters, plus novels for Harlequin Romantic Suspense.

Do I ever get tired of blogging?  No, although I sometimes have to ponder a bit about what to say next.

Do you enjoy reading blog posts?  Hopefully so, since you’re here.  I’d love it if you’d post comments about your opinion of blogs, and what you’d like to see authors blog about.  Then I can try to oblige at my own blogs when I’m not guesting here.

And blogging about blogging here at My Devotional Thoughts?  Hey, this is a lot of fun!

Linda O. Johnston’s first published fiction appeared in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine and won the Robert L. Fish Memorial Award for Best First Mystery Short Story of the year.   Since then, Linda has published more short stories, plus 35 mystery and romance novels, including for Harlequin Romantic Suspense and Harlequin Nocturne.

Linda’s Pet Rescue Mysteries, a spinoff from her Kendra Ballantyne, Pet-Sitter mysteries for Berkley Prime Crime, feature Lauren Vancouver, a determined pet rescuer who runs a no-kill shelter.  In this cozy series, “no-kill” refers to pets, not people!   And watch for Linda’s Superstition Mysteries from Midnight Ink.
