My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well-written Christian books that have the capacity to impact the spiritual life of the reader are sometimes extremely hard to find in today’s market. From the beginning of this book, I was convinced I had found one of those hard-to-find books. This book deals with issues that so many Christians (even pastors) don’t want to mention nor consider. Mediation has a bad connotation in today’s society thanks to the Enemy’s corruption of this beautiful Christian discipline. The author also emphasizes the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Christian. He even goes as far to say that we can’t do anything on our own. It is only God Who works within us. The author is quite careful to back up all of his claims with Scripture, and he even shared some brief personal experiences to illustrate his points.

There are so many things that I appreciated about this book that I hesitate to offer any criticisms. However, I can’t say I agree with everything in the book (surprise, surprise), but I am speaking of very miniscule issues. If you are not a fan of the charismatic movement, you may feel somewhat uncomfortable with his views concerning baptism in the Holy Spirit. The good news is that his view is not overly disconcerting, and it is not his primary focus. I came out of a movement similar to what he alludes, and our variance in beliefs is not something I find problematic.

I have come away from this book longing to practice Scripture mediation. It is something that I have rarely done, and his description and elaborated process has captured my imagination. It was a joy to read this book, and anyone who truly would like to grow in his/her Christian walk should read and apply this book!

I was sent a copy fo this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
