I’m not a Rolling Stones fan, but today’s feature does concern the “bad boy” Jim Morrison.  On this date in 1967, he made history by becoming the first person to be arrested on stage during a concert.  He was discovered with a woman before the show, and the police told him to leave.  There were words exchanged, and Jim Morrison was maced and dragged out.  He recovered–the concert had been delayed.  In the middle of the concert, he told the story with very colorful language.  The police didn’t like what was being said, so arrested him for indecency and obscenity–both charges were later dropped because there was no evidence.

Update:  I am so glad that people comment on blog posts and correct my misinformation.  Jim Morrison was a singer with the Doors, not the Rolling Stones.  I misread my sources, so I apologize for leading anyone astray.

Where did you find the artwork used in your blog post, Ruth? I love it. I hope you don’t mind, but I reprinted your blog post on http://www.jimmorrisonproject.com/entry/2013/12/this-day-in-history-december-9-1967. Don’t know if it was intentional that you mentioned the Rolling Stones, but Jim Morrison sang with The Doors 🙂
