The Raie'ChaeliaThe Raie’Chaelia by Melissa Douthit

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Even though I am not a major fantasy fan, I am pleased to be able to recommend this young adult fantasy book. The story is somewhat engaging. I sometimes found myself confused amongst the characters, but the story was appropriate, intriguing, and full of a few twists, turns, and bumps along the way. This is the first book in the series, and the author has informed me that in order to truly appreciate the trilogy, one needs to begin with the first book. I don’t know if that is true at this point, but we’ll see as I plan to read the other two books as well.

The best thing about this book is the exclusion of certain items that authors often (erroneously, in my opinion) insert into young adult books. There is a bit of romance, but you can be assured of not finding any intimate scenes. The profanity is so minimal that it is almost nonexistent. I was telling my mom about this series, and it is one that I believe my daughter might like a few years from now.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
