read a thonI think I’m finally getting caught up with this challenge.  I will let you know what books I have been reading this weekend.  But  for now, here’s today’s challenge.

Song Title Challenge
Pick any book you read in 2013 and choose a song(s) that best describes the book.
You can even create a playlist if you want! Be sure to post links to songs (youtube, spotify, etc).
Bear with me–I have never posted a spotify playlist, so this will be something new for me.  I also am not the greatest at doing challenges like this.
Divergent cover
This was one of my favorite reads of 2013, but it won’t be so easy to create a playlist.

Here’s my explanation and reasoning.

I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing:  Beatrice is in a world that is supposedly existing in peace because everyone knows they need to belong to one faction and have a single focus in order for everything to continue in peace.  Do I need to say it is a false peace?

Don’t Rain on My Parade:  Beatrice (Tris) leaves her family (Abnegation)  and joins the Brave ones (Dauntless).  She takes the leap of faith and does it no matter what anyone else says or thinks.

Eye of the Tiger:  Tris begins the grueling training process.  It pushes her to the limit.

God is Bigger:  I just had to put this one in.  Much of Tris’s training takes place in a virtual reality that is drug-induced.  It is not real.  This song could have helped those around her–she didn’t need much help.

I Knew Your Were Trouble:  Four is nothing but trouble, but it is just the sort of trouble that Tris desires.  Thankfully her story does not end as Taylor’s did.  At least not yet.

Need You Now:  Tris needs Four and her brother.  She risks everything to go see her brother, and she risks everything to be with Four.  And she always needs him in the middle of the night.  (Rest assured–they don’t get into bed!)

Roar:  Tris is victorious in spite of everything.  People want her to fail, but she does not.  Perfect song for her!

I’m a Survivor:  This song does not deal with life and death issues, but the last third of the book certainly does.  But I’m sure that Tris and those who do survive at the end could certainly utter these words!

Okay, I think I did it!  We’ll see!  I had fun doing this.  If you participate, be sure to link up here.
