Sir Princess TourBook two:  Sir Princess Petra’s Talent synopsis

Sir Princess Petra has already proven she is a kind and noble knight. This, however, does not please the king and queen—they want her to behave like a princess and forget this

silly knight nonsense of hers!

But when the king writes a new rule in the royal rule book that requires her to attend Talent School and acquire a princess talent certificate or suffer the spell of the royal magician, Petra, reluctantly, agrees to go. But who could have guessed what Sir Princess Petra’s Talent would be?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first experience with Sir Princess Petra, and I only wish my daughter was young enough to enjoy this book! I would recommend this book for about second to third grade (good for parent to read to younger children). I felt like I was reading about a girl so similar to my daughter it was scary! My daughter was a tomboy, and that seems to be who Sir Princess Petra is as well–much to the chagrin of her parents.

Although I had not read the first book in the series, I had no problem jumping right in on the action. I didn’t miss a beat, and the story was fun and thrilling. It was nice to see a princess who didn’t care much about a princess. I have grown quite weary of the “Dinsey princesses” and the “girly girl” books, and this is just what girls need in this day and age. It’s okay to be who you really are, and this book emphasizes that point to a tee. The characters are well-developed, and the author could easily write more in this adventure series. And just so you know, there is a somewhat nontraditional prince as well. No spoilers, but it was a delightful character addition.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

Book one:  Sir Princess Petra synopsis

Princess Petra’s unusual birthday request sends the royal court into a frenzy, but when she agrees to undertake a knight’s quest they can’t stop her. Armed with a cake knife and outfitted in the best royal pots and pans, Petra sets off to face a dragon and win her real armor before encountering a bog witch, and an army of the kingdom’s worst enemies. Will Petra’s kindness and acceptance prove to be more valuable than weapons and armor?

Before book one was accepted for a traditional publishing contract, the book received 27 rejections from traditional publishers. Next came a near-contract, then a contract that  failed to produce the book, and finally a contract that did produce the book.

When the author isn’t writing, she is reading, riding her horse, playing with her dogs, tending her enormous flower beds, or walking in her forest. The forest surrounding her house has been her biggest inspiration in writing fantasy children’s books. Diane walks amongst the giant trees and her imagination soars thinking of all the magical creatures that surely dwell there.

I remember seeing that–I copied it, and I remember thinking–I need to fix that. And then I got busy and forgot. And I have fixed it in the post.

Nice review. I like the tomboy remark and the need for books for “real” girls and not the girly-girl that Disney tends to portray. I totally agree with this. Having been a tomboy myself, I would never have read anything about the princesses that Disney puts out. But I would love Petra and her “I can do this” attitude.

Thank you for participating in the Petra book blog tour.

Nice review! I, too, thought this was a sweet read about a not so run-of-the-mill princess.
