September SequelsWelcome to this fantastic giveaway hop hosted by Lisa Loves Literature and I Am A Reader, Not a Writer.  This book giveaway hop is a little different because it celebrates sequels.  This means that you don’t get to pick the first book in a series.  Nope–don’t even try it!  I have some Amish sequels I will be reading this month and next month, but I have to admit that the only sequel on my mind is the next book that follows Scarlet.  I love Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles, and I can hardly wait till the next book comes out!  I always love talking about her since she lives so near where I grew up–essentially down the street.

When it comes to sequels, I find that very often, they are better, but once in a while, they don’t live up to the hype.  No matter–one of my wonderful international readers will get to win a sequel the is $10 or less, and all you need to do is enter the rafflecopter below by 9 P.M. Pacific time on September 9.  You will also need to make sure that Book Depository, Fish Pond, and/or Amazon ship to you.  I also buy books on half.com if you live in the U.S.  That opens up more options when you can buy a used book.  After you enter my giveaway, be sure to hop on!

I generally like sequels. I think I like sequels that use the same characters, places, etc., but are still stand-a-lones. These might be like the cozy mysteries – each book is a new story but with the same leading character(s). Other sequels might be, say a family, and each story centers on one of the group, while another book would feature a different lead. Then I guess there are the sequels which really just continue the story from where the last left off – even some of these might be stand-a-lones, but most I’d say need to be read in order, and without missing any so that the whole story is told and comes to a conclusion.
I’ve read a couple in the ‘family’ type – two different ‘series’ in the Love Inspired line – that I’ve really liked.

Sequels always make me nervous and excited at the same time–excited to read more of the world, but nervous that the sequel won’t live up to my expectations and to the first book. But right now I’m just plain excited for The Dream Thieves, because I know Maggie Stiefvater won’t let me down 😀

I’ve read some really great sequels this year. My favorites were Sweet Peril and Unravel Me. Great second books of a series. Thanks for the giveaway!

Moning’s Shadowfever is the best sequel I’ve ever read. Currently, I’m looking forward to reading MacRieve, Magic Rises and Styxx.

I am so excited about the third book in the Divergent series, Allegiant. It is one of my favorite series, and I love how the series has developed. I usually wait until all of the books in a series are out so that I don’t have to wait between them, but Divergent was one of those books that I just had to read, and then I had to wait between each book.

I love sequels because I can live trough a book longer than in a stand alone (and usually they’ve got more action)

I love sequels because well.. when Lord of the Rings came out I wasn’t sure from the first one..but towards the end I knew it would be big.. you become to love and endure the characters.. and to have something that can throw another mix into it like the Lord of the Rings did with the Hobbits.. its amazing.

I love reading sequels because the author can provide greater depth in character development and world building. I am looking forward to Styxx from the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Thanks for the great giveaway!

I am interested in Crown of Midnight. It has had such great reviews! Or in Scarlett, which has a cool cover! It’s hard to choice 🙂 I haven’t read the first book though 🙂

Actually I prefer reading books without sequels, I hate waiting.. But now everything is a series so I buy them and
(TRYING TO) wait for the series to end to read them.
Thank you for the giveaway 🙂

I am looking forward to reading Freak by Jennifer Hillier. I read Creep last year and really enjoyed it. I won the sequel(Freak) in a giveaway but haven’t had a chance to read it yet.

Also, I won Forbidden Sister by VC Andrews(love her books) so if I win a giveaway in this hop, I would choose the sequel, Roxy’s Story.

    Thanks 🙂

The best sequels i’ve ever read were the Harry Potter books. I also loved The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N. K. Jemisin, so I can’t wait to read the two sequels in this trilogy.

I can’t really tell the best sequel for me but the one which comes to mind is Insurgent, the sequel of Divergent. I’m looking forward for the final book, Allegiant 🙂

Thanks for the chance to win!
