Price Is Right Photos - 13

When I was growing up, I loved the chance moments when I got to watch “The Price is Right” with Bob Barker.  It was the only good thing about staying home sick.  I did not miss an episode when I could.  I planned my whole day around the show during the summer.  I played along (and my stuffed animals did, too).  And I memorized his closing remarks: “Help control the pet population.  Have your pets spayed or neutered.”  I think that was the first time I was even exposed to those words.

On this date in 2007, the final show with Bob Barker as the host aired on television.  And so ended his remarkable 35-year career.  His closing words (before his signature remarks), were:  “Folks, I want to thank you very, very much for inviting me into your homes for the last fifty years. I am deeply grateful.”  Nothing against any fans of Drew Carey, but I did not enjoy him as host of the show.  Nothing can top Bob Barker in my book.

  1. I too loved the show. I’m not a huge fan with Drew Carey, it’s just not the same.
