“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

We live in the country, and we are not hooked up to city water.  We have a well (that was just recently replaced), and our water is pretty hard compared to city water.  We have a somewhat dated dishwasher, but it works for our needs.  There are three adults (two are seniors) and one 10-year-old child that share this house.  Our kitchen is small but functional.  I am the one who cooks, and my mom is normally the one who does the dishes.  Occasionally, my dad does the dishes, but those times are generally a disaster.  Our normal dishwasher routine is to completely rinse off the dishes.  We have tried various dishwasher “pacs” before, but the success rate has been pretty horrendous.  Therefore, we don’t generally use them.  Even after running our dishes through the dishwasher, we normally find film, streaks, and “still-dirty” dishes.   We had basically come to terms with the reality–our dishwasher could really only be used as a sanitizer, not an actual “dish washer.”

When I was selected to review the Cascade Platinum Pacs, I was pretty excited.  I was most excited about their claims that the need to pre-wash is eliminated, and that it also scrubs away 24-hour stuck-on food.  If these pacs would finally work on our dishes, I was going to breathe a sigh of relief and know that pre-washing was done for good!  My mom was willing to try them, but I think she was pretty skeptical in the beginning.

After the first dishwasher experience using Cascade Platinum, we were both very pleased with the results.  Everything got clean, and all claims seemed correct.  So we continued to use it.  Within a few days, my mom decided to do the ultimate test.  She used one of the pacs without prewashing.  And guess what she said the next day!  “I am changing dishwasher detergent!”  I will be honest.  Once in a while, there is a dish or two that does not get clean, but that is to be expected, I would say.  However, the results are much better than with any other dishwasher detergent we have tried.

Now, more than ever, people eat with their eyes, and the evidence is all over sites like Facebook and Instagram. With that in mind, Top Chef judge and editor of Food+Wine magazine, Gail Simmons, has partnered with Cascade to discuss why presentation is just as important as preparation.

  • From prep to plating: It’s more than just a great-tasting recipe, but also perfect presentation. Sparkling dishes, shining flat ware and spot-free glasses truly let you put your best food forward with culinary creations that pop!
  • Gail recommends impressing with a Platinum Presentation: “The easiest recipes pop with unexpected, gourmet presentations. Drizzle bright sauces on sparkling white plates or layer desserts in crystal-clean glassware. Keep your presentation sparkling with Cascade Platinum, which keeps dishes perfect for anytime entertaining and impromptu guests.”
