This Day in History May 16, 1927

I have heard a lot of unusual rulings, but this one takes the cake.  On this date, 1927, the Supreme Court ruled that criminals had to pay income taxes on their stolen property or face tax evasion.  It was a landmark decision in the case of the United States v. Sullivan.  This means that bootleggers had to pay tax.  This means that it did not violate a criminal’s fifth amendment rights.  Later on, this was how Al Capone was convicted.  Does anyone else find this ruling truly ironic?  Anyway, I am sure that every criminal follows this ruling, right?  (Note the dripping sarcasm in my words!)
