Revenge is sweet…unless you are on the receiving end of it.

“Do you know of anyone who would want…you dead?”

Officer Daniel Jenkins was no stranger to the dangers his job posed but usually he knew who was trying to kill him. Being stalked was a completely different ball game, and he wasn’t sure there were any rules…

“…I need you.”

Terrified didn’t even begin to describe how Kami felt with the stalker targeting her. As an FBI agent you were trained to handle stressful situations, but being the victim put the whole process in a different light.

As the killer gets closer, so do Kami and Daniel, but will they live long enough to see their love bloom?

Only God can save them from this unknown killer…

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First of all, either my tastes have changed, or I did not connect with this book like I did the first.  In fact, I was just rereading my review of “Shadows of Suspicion,” and for some reason, this book did not capture my attention as much as that one.  However, let me be perfectly clear.  This is a clean romance with a Christian message.  For that reason alone, I can give it a four star rating because it if not too often I find a book that I don’t have to “warn” my readers about.

Ashley Dawn has a readable style, for sure, and her romance is sappy.  Mostly, this was no problem.  I liked the romance between Kami and Daniel, but sometimes it became a little sickening sweet for me.  I also felt that Daniel’s conversion was a little contrived.  But there is not doubt that these characters relied on God for everything.

There are definitely aspects of this book that are pretty exciting and nail-biting, but maybe since I read her other book, I didn’t get into this one as much.  When there was danger, it didn’t get to me in the same way as her first book did.  I wanted to connect with the book more, but perhaps the characters just didn’t interest me very much.  But don’t let that stop you.  The book is sweet and clean, and if you have never read an Ashley Dawn book, this is a fine book to begin.  A great, quick read for the long, cold winter nights.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
